Sex in the Cinema

Sex In The Cinema Series

What is it?
In 2002, OPHD started this film series sponsoring free screenings of popular films that have storylines relating to sex and/or gender issues. Now we select films that also include themes about race, religion, disability or veteran’s status. We pose questions to the audience before the film starts to increase awareness of bias, harassment and discrimination issues. We always make sure the audience knows where OPHD is located. Our Sex in the Cinema series received national attention in the Swank Motion Pictures Promotion News You Can Use in Spring 2006.

Why have it?
The films provide a forum for OPHD to advertise its resources to a large group of people and to explore cinematic depictions of harassment and discrimination. We select a variety of genres, including comedies, dramas, action/adventure films or documentaries. The series is an entertaining way to focus on the serious subject of discrimination.
